Privacy
A plain-language summary of how information will be handled in the Ratels application as features are enabled. No accounts, comments, likes, bookmarks or notifications are operating yet.
Current status
At present this site publishes static information pages only. It does not yet create accounts, collect email addresses, or store comments, likes, bookmarks or notifications. The statements below describe the intended handling of that information as each feature is enabled.
What we will collect
Once accounts are enabled, an account will require an email address for sign-in and verification. A public profile will carry only a display name and, where enabled, a profile picture.
What will stay private
- Your email address will never be shown publicly.
- Bookmarks and notifications will be visible only to you.
- Account status, moderation records and security records will not be public.
- Search queries will not be collected as personal search history by default.
What will be public
Published posts, and comments you post, along with your display name. Aggregate counts such as likes will be public as totals only. Who liked a post will never be revealed.
Deletion and retention
When accounts are enabled and an account is deleted, access will end immediately. Remaining account data is intended to be kept for six months before it becomes eligible for permanent removal or anonymisation. Retained data will never restore access. Access termination and data retention remain separate concepts. Published editorial records and moderation, audit and security history may be kept under separate rules.
Prototype status
This is an unofficial community prototype under active development. Do not submit sensitive personal information through it.
